Very Berry Face Mask

Hello lovely!
Today I had a spare half an hour, and so I thought I might as well break out a face-mask seen as I went on a slight face-mask shopping spree in the past few weeks! I'm not sure if they are all new, or if I just hadn't spotted them before, but lately I've been seeing a lot of different Montagne Jeunesse sachet masks. The one I used today seemed so unusual it felt blog worthy! The odd mask in question is the "Very Berry" mask, which claims to be "ultra moisturising and cleansing", which is exactly what I was looking for, after a month of bad skin days.
As you can see from the picture below, it's blooming metallic! When I first started applying it, it was one of the oddest feelings I have experienced, it looked and felt like paint, so all I could think was, oh my goodness this cannot possibly be good for my skin!
But lo and behold, it seems to have done the trick! My redness was reduced and a few blemishes waiting to become full blown spots were banished. I love all of the masks in this range and now I'm excited to try some others.

Have you tried any masks from this brand? Which would you recommend?
Lots and lots of love, Beth :) xxx

so I'm back!

I have been absent for a long long time but for good reason!
It was exam season so my days and weeks have been filled with revision cards, mind maps and essay plans. But now that's all over and I can get back to blogging and not feel guilty about it.
I do have a teensy bit of news however, I got a full-time job!
Which, suffice to say, is so far making me feel both very grown up and very tired!
So, expect a lot more regular blog posts from me, I'm really excited to get back into it :)!

battle of the brows!

Filling in my brows is something I have only recently started doing, as my brows are so unruly and sparse at the same time they are often neglected as they just seem impossible to make look presentable! Over the last few months I have accumulated 3 drugstore brow pencils, Eylure, No7 and Maybelline, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a post comparing them! As I mentioned, they are all drugstore, all relatively cheap, all for my dark brown brows and all came with a spooley on one end.
No7. (£6.50) Pros||Great colour match (in shade Brown), no smudging, no flaking, spooley on the end isn't too hard or brittle Cons||Spooley fell off within one use, not the best colour pay off
Eylure (£5.39) Pros||Good colour match (shade 2), good colour pay off, pencil not too soft or too hard, soft spooley Cons||No lid on the spooley end so can get dirty in make-up bag
Maybelline (£2.99) Pros||Honestly the only positive I can find with this product is that it was really cheap! Cons||Awful to sharpen, runs down so so easily, not great colour pay off, feels waxy on the brows
Summary time!
No7.- A good brow pencil and seen as No7. is usually on some form of offer I think it's worth giving a look! Eylure- I love this product and it's now got it's permanent place in my make-up bag! Maybelline- Unless you desperately need a brow pencil and can't get your hands on any others, I wouldn't recommend this!
Hope some of you found this useful!
Do you use brow pencils or are you more of a shadow lover?
I think I'm just too impatient to use a shadow!

to uni or not to uni?

Hello lovely, todays post is regarding something I have been thinking about for about 2 years now, do I go to uni or not?
If you're of a similar age to me then I'm sure it's something you've found yourself thinking too. Personally I have decided to take at least a year out, meaning I haven't applied for uni at all as it stands.
But now I find myself thinking, was that the right move? What if I never go now? Do I even want to go ? Why do I feel like I need to go? What would I do if I were to go? What would I do if I don't go?
The more I think about it the more conflicted I become, I can't see myself at uni, I don't want to go. But then again if I don't go I don't know what I will do...
Have you been in a similar situation?
Any advice on how I can make such a life-chaging decision when it takes me 20 minutes to decide what I want for lunch?
I'd really love any advice you can offer! Or at least to know it's not just me that's thinking this!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- hardly perfection!

This is a bit of a controversial post I feel!
I do not like the Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection.
There, I said it!
If you somehow don't know about the hype around this product, it's basically a drugstore concealer that pretty much every beauty Youtuber and Blogger seems to love for under eyes, blemishes and redness.
I've tried this concealer countless times, and both light and medium shades, and sure as sugar, every time I hate it.
It dries out my skin, it creases, it seems to highlight my problem areas rather than conceal and all in all, I do not like it at all.
It's not the worst product I've tried, but it's certainly not the best!
Do you like this product?
It seems that the vast majority of people love it, but I just thought I'd put my 2 cents out there!
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxo

Superfacialist Rose Intense Moisture Mask

Recently I have been developing a bit of a face mask obsession, I blinking love the things!
I have so so many problems with my skin, dry areas, oily areas, countless blemishes, redness, darkness under my eyes. You name it, I get it and I hadn't ever found anything that treated all of them.
So I talked myself into buying a slightly more expensive mask, I chose a mask specifically for moisturising the skin, as it's the problem that bothers me the most.
I wasn't expecting amazing things if I'm being honest, I love face masks but as more of a novelty rather than an effective treatment.
But boy oh boy was I mistaken!
This product worked wonders for my skin, I think this (and a combination of other products I've been trying out) is what has cleared up my skin.
When it's first applied it feels as though you're just slapping on moisturiser that wont quite sink in right, but after leaving it on for a good 10/15 minutes (I usually just ignore the instructions and leave it on for as long as it feels right to), it almost completely disappears.
Once I've washed it off my face, my skin feels as soft as a babies bottom as the saying goes!
The nice smoothy soft feeling really does stay for a good 3 days afterwards, for me at least.
Obviously everyone and everyone's skin type is very different, but this product is definitely one that I will continue to use and has very quickly become a regular in my skincare routine!
Have you tried this product, or anything else from the Superfacialist range?
I've not heard much about the brand and brought it on a whim if I'm being honest!
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxoxo

monthly goals no.1- April

Hello there gorgeous,
If you're like me, then you make New Years resolutions and forget about them by the 20th of January, this is why I've decided to set myself monthly goals and post updates on this blog! They can be anything, blog related, work related, college related, or personal, absolutely anything.
For the end of April I will have-
1. Completed ALL my college coursework
2. Written at least 3 blog posts per week
3. Organised my room at my mums house (my room at my dads can wait until next month)
4. Started revision for my exams
5. Decided on my next tattoo (decided it's happening very very soon!)
Wish me luck!

Botanics Revealing Body Polish

At Christmas I got an absurd amount of miniatures in sets, as always, and personally I love getting presents like this, just because I am always quite hesitant to spend money on something that I haven't heard a lot of good things about, but miniatures mean that I have a chance to find a little gem like this!

I'm not the biggest fan of body polishes, I prefer a body exfoliator that feels like it's doing something, something with a chunkier texture to it, like the Garnier Body Tonic Scrub with sugar and fruit extracts (my summer exfoliator). Although having said that, I am also incredibly lazy when it comes to taking care of my skin and I will take any short cuts I can! I know it's bad but it's true. This product is amazing for that, as not only is it really really exfolitating without you really noticing, it is incredibly moisturising and when you use it in the shower, it foams up to bubbles under the water. Meaning you can pretty much shave your legs with one product.
I am completely in love with this product and I use it every time I have a shower (not so much in the bath, because I don't like sitting around with the beads left in the bath water) and I definitely plan on buying a bigger tube when I run out!
Have you tried this product?
Do you have another body exfoliator/polish that you rely on?
Please do leave a comment and follow if you liked this post :)

haul and mini reviews!

Hello lovely, I've done quite a bit of make-up shopping in the drugstore lately, I felt my make-up needed a bit of a shake-up to be honest, so I thought I'd show you what I got :)
Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation- 120 Vanilla
I'm sure you've heard of this, everyone and their mother seems to love it and seen as my skin is being a little better than usual lately I figured I'd give it a go. So far I love it to be honest! Not a bad thing to say about it!
Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder- 020 Light Pale
I'm not really a powder kinda gal, but Revlon was on buy one get one half price, so I thought why the heck not. I really do like this, it works amazingly with the foundation, helps with the staying power and doesn't look cakey!
MUA Cover and Conceal- Almond
I love my concealers, and when I found this one in Superdrug and noticed that it was far more pink toned than the usual yellow toned concealers (which do absolutely nothing for my dark circles) and saw no reason to give it a try. I do like it, and I have to say I like it a lot more than everyone's favourite Collection (2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer.
MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter
I am a massive fan of highlighter over blush or bronzer, I feel like I'm too pale for bronzer and get too much redness for blusher. I've been using this highlighter everyday and with the Revlon foundation I think it gives a really natural look.
17 Wild Metallic Eyes- Wild Nude

I've been really interested in these kind of cream eye shadows, I think I need to wear eye shadow more but I'm too lazy, so this (as I can apply it with my finger while I'm on the bus) seemed like the perfect option. I do really like it, it wears evenly and has minimal creasing throughout the day, I also love the colour!
If you'd like any full reviews of these products just let me know in the comments, and please do remember to follow this blog however you fancy :)
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxo

lately I love #5

Hello honey!
This lately I love isn't even remotely beauty/fashion related, so I do apologise for that!
Fairy tales!
There will be some of you that think this is ridiculous, because I am not 6. But I mean the good old fashioned fairy tales, with actual messages.
For example the Grim fairy tales and a new personal favourite Angela Carter's Book of Fairy Tales.
I honestly think their is something powerful about the messages that these old stories have, and how relevant they are today still.
I will, however, admit that there are some that are just crazy, but still entertaining!
Are you a fan of fairy tales? Or do you just think I'm a little weird haha!

Revlon Grow-Luscious Mascara

Hello gorgeous :)
I thought I'd write a post today to let you all know about a product that I have been absolutely loving, the Revlon Grow-Luscious Mascara. I can't even remember how long ago it was that I brought this mascara, I think Revlon must have been on offer at the time because I haven't heard anything about this mascara. But lately I found it in my make-up draw and thought, well why not give it a go!
The Revlon website claims that the mascara "strengthens and conditions lashes for a longer and fuller lash look" and that "day after day, unique formula helps strengthen lashes"
And to be honest I would have to agree, normally I'm very dubious when companies make those kind of claims, but I didn't know about these claims when I brought the mascara.
It looks amazing all day, is really really build-able to make a more dramatic look.
But it also has made my lashes look a lot longer and thicker without mascara on at all. I can't say for sure that it is this mascara, because I'm never loyal to one mascara, but I've only noticed the change since I started using this particular product most days.
after using the mascara
before with my very light lashes

*excuse the lack of other make-up but I was poorly when this photo was taken*
I absolutely love this mascara and I think I've found something that I will repurchase
Have you tried this mascara?
Or have you got another mascara that you swear by?
I'd be interested to know :)
I think Benefit They're Real Mascara is next on my list when this one runs out!

no7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Wipes

Hello there honey :)
I'm sure you've seen these wipes in your local Boots store before, and I'm sure you've seen their absurd price tag of £7.00 and if you're anything like me, walked right on past them to the much cheaper face wipes.

in case you haven't seen these lovely wipes before, it might sound trivial but I do love the clean white packaging.
However, if you are a bargain hunter like me, I'm sure you've also seen the no7 vouchers with two sides that Boots give out every few weeks when you spend over £5 in one transaction. As far as I'm aware it was previously £3 off make-up and £5 of skincare, however now it's £5 off fragrance and £5 off skincare (specific to no7 that is).
With the £5 off voucher the wipes are just £2 (or 200 points) which I think is pretty averagely priced for face wipes to be honest. And I cannot fault the quality. I usually use the Boots Essentials Face Wipes (£1.50) or whatever cheap wipes I can get my hands on.
To start with I wasn't sure about the wipes, just because of how wet (ewww hate that word!) they are. However, once I'd got used to it, they are the most refreshing wipes I've used and are so moisturing, something my very dry skin needs. Plus, as far as face wipes go they get rid of sooooo much make-up!
They have fast become an essential item for me and one that I will repurchase again and again.
(when I have money off vouchers I intent on stocking up!)
Have you tried these wipes?
Do you think no7 items are as overpriced as I do?
I love to read and reply to your comments so please do leave them below :)
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxo

H&M wishlist!

Hello lovely,
If you're anything like me you'll often feel like your purse is a little too light after one too many shopping trips
And I'm hoping that writing "wishlist" posts, will give me a similar feeling of satisfaction that actually going out and buying the items does; just to tide me over before my purse inevitably gets even lighter
Recently I was torturing myself looking through the H&M website, and I had quite a few things in my basket that I thought I would share with you!
I also thought that, rather than doing wishlist posts from all over the internet, I would do them specific to one shop at a time, so if you don't want to go all through an online shop to get a feel for the clothing they offer you don't have to!
I would like to say, all of these items will be mine soon, I am genuinely running out of clothes, so much so that I have had to put myself on a make-up specific spending ban in the hope that I can prioritise!
1. Aztec Chiffon Dress- £14.99
Perfect for summer with a cardigan! And I really prefer dresses the second the sun starts to shine, regardless of the heat, even if it's with thick tights, boots and a coat it gets me in the spirit!
2. Pink Jumper- £7.99
You can't beat a good old comfy jumper really can you! I also thought this would look really cute with number 3, over a summer dress.
These are really similar to a pair I've been lusting after from Peacocks here, but I'm a sucker for a wedge, being 5ft3".
Same style as number 1, but just so summery I can't help but love it!
This is just all my favourite things in a top! Oversized, dip dyed and bright!
This is just a good basic black bag, something which I have been after for absolutely ages!

Do you like any of these items?
Personally I love H&M, they are fast becoming my new Primark, good clothes a reasonable prices!
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxo
p.s. this was my first time editing with the GIMP software on my computer, looking at it now, it's not the best editing I've ever done but I'm sure I'll get used to it :)

lately I love #4

Hello lovely!
Time for another lately I love! Bit of a different one this time, in that it is not beauty related, it is however, fashion related... very loosely!
Comfy shoes!

my purple Uggs and lovely Topshop slippers!

I know some of you fashion conscious ladies (and men) out there will be recoiling at the sight of my bright purple Uggs, and to you I say it feels like a hug for your feet! To be honest, when I just nip up to the shops, I don't care what I have on my feet, comfort is key.
With the weather being as poopey as it has been in England recently, very cold and bitter, looking nice has definitely kind of taken a back seat for me.
This has basically meant me living in either my slippers (brought by my lovely boyfriend) or my Uggs.
Are you a sucker for comfort or a slave to your heels?
I know I'll always lean towards comfort!
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxo
p.s. please do hit the follow button, it makes me do this :D

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer Review!

Hello there beautiful!
A while ago I posted a little S&G mini-haul and so here is the first review of those products. This was probably the product that I was most looking forward to trying, as I am always looking for the perfect concealer. Sadly I don't think my search is over with this product, it is good, but certainly does have its flaws.
Under-Eye Section (Step 1)-
It is quite drying under the eyes but with lots of moisturiser first it isn't too bad, just needs to be re-touched during the day.
Blemishes Section (Step 2)-
This section does work wonders, and I am very impressed with it. Best concealer I've tried for blemishes as it doesn't seem to make them worse.
Finishing Powder (Step 3)-
I haven't really used the powder, but I'm sure it's a handy extra for those with oily skin, however as my skin is so dry, I tend to shy away from powder.
Overall-
I love that this product has been developed with such thought and consideration. My issue with most concealers is that they tend to be yellow toned (for blemishes or redness) and so using them under my eyes is pointless.
But the fact alone that this product has a more pink toned section, really does balance out the dryness in my opinion.
I will repurchase this product when it runs out, I'm still holding out hope for a better under-eye concealer, but I don't think I'll find a better one for blemishes!
Hope you find this review useful!
Have you had any similar experiences with the dryness of this product?
Or do you know of an amazing under-eye concealer that I should try?
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxo
p.s. you can pop over to this older post here to see pictures of the product :)

"too young"

Hello lovely, this is a bit of an impromptu post about something that has got me rather... not angry, irritated I think is the right word.
People saying "you're too young for XYZ".
Obviously I don't mean things like drinking, or getting tattoos, things you literally can be too young for legally. I mean things that require emotional maturity, like being "in love", deciding what job you want, or getting married.
It frustrates me so much when you hear older people, saying "ooh 18 is too young to know what you want to do with your life" or "you can't possible be in love when you're only 15".
How can anyone determine how many years you have to have been on this planet to make a decision so personal? Does that mean to say that a 5 year old can't love their mum or their best friend? I understand it is a different kind of love, but there are a million kinds of love so who's to say that there is a specific age at which you can experience different kinds.
The same can be said for deciding what job you want to do, it's absurd to think that you know exactly how someone else feels about something so individual to them. How do you know that 10 year old isn't deadly serious about being a hairdresser, doctor or Prime Minister and willing to put the work in?
Okay I'll stop ranting now, I could go on for pages and pages but that would be fun for no one!
What do you think about it? Do you think you can be "too young" for certain things or is everyone different?
I really would be interested to know, leave your thoughts in the comments :)
Lots and lots of love (hell yeah I'm only 18 but I love you!) Beth xoxoxoxo

lately I love #3

Hello there beautiful!
This lately I love is an old favourite lipstick of mine which is sadly nearing its end.
From the Rimmel Moisture Renew range, Spotlight Beige.

I have never been a massive fan of nude lips, simply because I have quite pigmented lips anyway and any nude colours just look wrong. But this colour, oh my word, it's gorgeous and I have fallen in love with it again.
It's just the right mix of pigmented but also sheer so it doesn't cover over any natural pigmentation of your lips, so avoiding the concealer lips look that really doesn't suit me.
It doesn't cling to dry areas, it has medium staying power I would say, it wont last all day if you eat and drink but you wont need to reapply every five minutes.
I just plain love it.
All the Rimmel lip products are amazing in my opinion if I'm being honest, they get it spot on every time!
Do you have any favourites from the Rimmel lip products?
This was laying in my draw for so long unloved, I feel quite guilty now!
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxo

MUA Undressed

Hi there gorgeous!
This is going to be a little look at something I brought recently and got very excited about. An MUA eye pallet, which is supposed to be a dupe for the Naked palette I think, but seen as I'm broke 99% of the time I can't judge this (the new Undressed Me Too palette is supposed to be a dupe for the Naked 2).
But what I can judge, is how darn pretty all the colours are!
Usually in pallets I can see one or two colours that I will never use, however in this (and also the MUA Heaven and Earth palette) I can see me using every single one.
They range from barely there nudes to shimmery blacks, all can be built up to be more pigmented and it even comes with a suggestion on the back of how to use the colours.

swatched in order
I've used colours 2, 4 and 8 once already, for me and the boyf's Valentines date on Friday and their staying power was amazing, with only concealer underneath to act as a base/primer.
It's retailing for just £4, for 12 shades so around 33p for a really pigmented eye shadow isn't really something you can pass up!
Have you tried this palette, or the newer one?
Unfortunately my local Superdrug hasn't got it in stock yet, but I probably will pick it up, fallen in love with MUA palettes.
Let me know if you'd like a face of the day with this palette so you can see them on the lid :)
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxoxoxo

I did some (Soap &) Glorious shopping!

Hi honey, see what I did there haha!
Recently I have fallen in love with the Soap and Glory Supercat Liner and my mum has fallen in love with the Soap and Glory mascara that I gave her. So it got me thinking, why have I not branched out into more of their cosmetics? Answer, because I'm daft.
So, today me and the boyfriend went into town for a bit of lunch, shopping and to give each other our Valentines presents, and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to nip into Boots before he got there and have a bit of a nosey!
I went to the advantage card kiosk (do you when you shop in Boots? you really should, I always thought it was a waste of time but there are some good vouchers on there) and there was a voucher for 300 points when you brought a Sexy Mother Pucker XL lipgloss. Suffice to say I needed no further encouragement.
When I hurried on over to the Soap and Glory cosmetic section, I saw a 3 for 2 sign and I really was beside myself.
Along with the Sexy Mother Pucker XL gloss, I picked up a gloss stick (I do love my lip products) and the Kick Ass Concealer, which I've looked at so many times but never took the plunge.
*I am aware that the pictures aren't of the best quality, but 9pm isn't the best time for snapping pictures and this is just a mini-haul, not a review :)*

Have you tried any of the S&G cosmetics?
Please do comment and follow if you fancy it, you can also find me on twitter @looklifebeauty if you fancy a chat! And as always if you have a blog do leave it  in the comments, I love finding new ones :)
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxo

Schwarzkopf Color Mask Review!

Hello gorgeous!
I did a thing I promised myself I wouldn't... I am sitting here with newly dyed hair!
The plan was to let my natural hair grow out, but the more I let it grow and the more I saw my natural colour, the more I realised it doesn't suit me! You can see in any of my pictures that I have dark eyebrows, but my natural hair colour is a mousey blonde and so when my roots come through, suffice to say I look a little daft.
It does now seem like kind of a waste, I had a good few inches cut off my hair to help it grow but oh well, I like it now, regardless of the shortness.
So when I went into Superdrug and saw the new Schwarzkopf Color Mask for £3.99, I had to have it!

I used the colour 400 Dark Brown, and although you can't see much difference on camera, I can tell the difference. I feel like it's for one, got rid of the last little bit of ombre after having it cut out and it also got rid of the red tones left over from purple dye.
It only took one lot of this product, whereas usually, as I have thick hair, I need two. Although it only contained about four handfuls (bearing in mind I have baby hands), a little bit goes a long way.
I do like this form of hair dye, I think it's the easiest I've tried (usual bottle dyes and the XXL Shake It Up) as it's really thick and is basically like a hair mask to apply. I don't know if it's down to the dye or the after treatment that is included, but my hair doesn't feel as dry as it usually does when I've dyed it in the past.

really really thick formula!

Anyhoo, I do recommend this product if you like one of the colours, however from what I can see the colour range consists of blondes and browns, no spectacular colours. Which  now I think about it is unusual for Schwarzkopf, but it is a good product!
Have you used this product?
Do you like the good ol' bottle method of at home dye (I find it such a pain and always get in a mess!), are you a sucker for a gimmick like me, or are you more of a "only at the salon" kinda gal?
I'd love to know in the comments!
Lots and lots of love Beth xoxoxoxo
p.s. please do follow if you liked this posts, it makes me very happy and I'll love you forever :)

first impressions count-- Effaclar Duo

Hello lovelies!
I've done a little bit of shopping recently *slaps wrists and sobs over spending-ban* and so I thought I'd give you my first impressions on some of the products I got!
First up is the much raved about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo.

I'll be honest I wasn't planning on buying this, let alone two of them, but they were on offer! Which, I know is my justification for everything, but it was a really good deal. At Boots the whole range is on 2 for £15, and considering the product itself alone is around £13, it felt silly not to buy it!

When I first picked up the box (and located the English writing, which was a challenge!), and read what it claimed to do- "pores are purified, imperfections are reduced. Skin looks clearer and smoother...", I had to have it! Who wouldn't want any of that?

When I brought it, I wasn't sure how I would use it, what it would really do for me, or even why I really wanted it realistically.
But based on first impressions alone I am impressed. I've been using it before make-up and after taking my make-up off at night.
Although I can't see any major effects at the moment, it feels like it's doing good if you know what I mean? Sometimes I use products and it just feels like they are sitting on my skin and not doing much, but with this it really does feel like it's getting in there and having a nice effect.

So there we have it!
I will be doing a updated review on this product when I've used it a little more!
Have you tried this product?

lately I love.. #2

Hello gorgeous! This post is all about...
(I picked it up in orange, my justification being that I will be able to find it in my bag.. but really I just liked it!)
I wasn't sure I would like this product, just because it costs £10.99 (but I paid with my Boots Advantage Card points, so 1099 points) which is a blooming lot of money/points for essentially a hair brush!
But oh my, how wrong could I have been? Foolish Past-Beth!
This little handful of joy (ooerr ;)) has really gone above and beyond my expectations and is well worth the money.
I have insanely damaged hair and whenever I brush my hair (wet or dry) it breaks like crazy, but I had just accepted this as "one of those things".
However now I realise that it's not, I can't pretend to know how it works (far too technical for me!) but the Tangle Teaser doesn't break my hair at all, doesn't pull and actually makes it a lot shinier.
I highly recommend this, I don't know what I would do without it now and it is something I will repurchase if need be!
Please do follow my blog (through GFC or by email if you prefer) if you liked this post and want to see more :)
Lots and lots of love, Beth xoxoxo
p.s. have you tried tangle teasers? what do you think?
